From December 6, the Fujitsu LifeBook Q2010--one the the slimmest ultraportables in existence--becomes even more mobile as it gets upgraded with a High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) slot for 3G wireless broadband service.
Launched at the same time as Singapore M1's HSDPA broadband plan, the LifeBook should be able to hook onto the Internet wherever there is cellular coverage. However, note that the Q2010's 3G download speed peaks at 1,800kbps, which means it will not be able to maximize the high-end Broadband 3600 plan offered by M1.
The first wave of 3G-enabled LifeBook Q2010 will be sold during the upcoming SITEX show from November 30 to December 3, after which you will have to wait till December 6 to find it in Singapore retail stores. It goes for a cool S$5,888 (US$4,266.98), although units purchased between November 28 and December 24 will receive a S$1,000 (US$724.69) cash-back rebate to ease the strain on your wallet. Considering the older Q2010 without 3G capabilities costs the same as the new units and does not benefit from the rebate, Fujitsu is really pushing towards the freedom of wireless mobile broadband.
