Slap on a pair of side speakers on a Samsung R7 and out comes the new Sonoma S7. It's a bit of an exaggeration here, though it's hard not to note the striking similarities between the two series of LCD TVs. With a selection of four display sizes ranging from 27 to 40 inches, the S7 flat panels are now available in Singapore at a recommended retail price of S$3,999 (US$2,630.92) and below.
Optimized for gaming at the touch of a button, the S7 models are equipped with Horizontal-Sharpness and Dark Area enhancements, and specially tuned to reproduce high-definition video games. This, coupled with its high 3,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and fast 8ms response time, ensures quality playback for contrasting, ghost-free pictures.

Looks like Samsung is content with resting on their laurels by launching lower quality LCD TV's instead of releasing their newer 1080p series of TV's here. As compared to their close partner, Sony who is hitting the local market with the 1080p capable Bravia X and SXRD TV's, Samsung don't seem keen to push their latest and greatest here at all.

Samsung will just keep updating their models with only aesthetic changes. Picture wise they are light years behind competitors like Pioneer,Sony and Panasonic. I own a Samsung HD Plasma and it's one of the worst engineered HDTV I have ever seen. Picture wise Samsung cannot compete with the big names. LG is far better too when compared Spending so much for a HTDV who cares abt the aesthetics. All we need is the picture quality.
