You gotta hand it to Dima Komissarov for taking everyday items and giving them a refreshing tech spin. His Remobeads draw from such an inspiration, using prayer beads as the template for his TV remote controller. It's not only a nifty idea for giving your fingers a workout while you surf channels by pressing the beads, you can even add mantra chants as a sound option while switching channels. Glows in the dark, too!
Before Osim's iGallop gallopped into town, there was Matsushita's Joba Horseriding Exercise Machine. Perhaps thanks to its pedigree, being built in conjunction with Nagoya University to offer a form of horseback-riding therapy, this mechanical horse avoids any yippee-yo kai-yay cowgirls on a hot ride overtones. Saddling up apparently stimulates those seldom used muscles in the dorsal and abdominal regions and decreases waist size without the user exerting much effort. Which is perfect for the elderly, middle-aged and, yes, those who hate exercise. Marlboro Man not included.
Recent news reports have confirmed that the Finnish phone maker will be unveiling new Nseries multimedia handsets in Berlin this week that are lighter and more stylish. Among these will be an update to the popular N70, to be called the N73, which is rumored to offer enhanced features such as a 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus and Carl Zeiss lens, Bluetooth 2.0 and stereo speakers.
Earlier this year, several Web sites posted a picture of what they claimed was the N93 handset, an update to the upcoming TV-enabled N92 handset (left picture) which will be available globally only later this year. According to the reports, the N93 will come with a 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus, 3x optical zoom lens (a rare feature on camera-phones) and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity.
Think Victorinox's Swiss Army Card Knife Kit, and you're close to what Russian designer Dima Komissarov has dreamt up with his C'ALL handset. Simply imagine an all-in-one card phone that does just about everything, from video calls to MP3 player, to GPS, to car keys, a camera, remote control, and even credit /discount card. Did we also mention that it can double as both a portable Mac and PC? Komissarov has also thrown in fingerprint biometrics for good security measure. Of course, all that amazing goodness is still in the realm of sci-fi right now. But like Star Trek's Holodeck, we just hope this will be during our lifetime.
Come May, handheld maker Dopod will be launching the S300 (aka HTC Star Trek) smart phone in Singapore. Details of the S300 have so far been sketchy but the company has confirmed that quadband handset will come with a 1.3-megapixel camera, 2.2-inch QVGA display and Bluetooth. It will be running on Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone Edition.
The main feature of the phone, however, is its thin form factor. Possibly one of the slimmest smart phones currently available, the S300's footprint at 98.5 x 51.4 x 15.8mm is just a tad bigger than the RAZR V3 (98 x 53 x 13.9mm). The Dopod smart phone will also be equipped with 64MB ROM and 64MB RAM, with memory expansion in the form of a microSD slot.
