Have energy, will travel. Which seems to be Ridata's aim since its SP 1300 not only provides power on-the-go, it even comes (oddly) in a skateboard design. This unconventional solar power charger, spotted by our Editor at CES Las Vegas in January, can juice up to two AAA and AA batteries, while making for a very cute table decoration. If you prefer the human form, there's a plastic version performing a back arch. Just don't try that at home.
Here's cookware you'll need a spot of origami skills to put to use. The Orikaso is a complete range of picnic and table gear that you can actually pack into your haversack. That's right, bowls, cups, plates--all of which fold flat and are ultra lightweight. And just like the Japanese art, these look chic, too. No call to rough it out while roughing it in the wilderness. Interestingly, this was a brainchild of Britisher Jay Cousins, an adventurer likely looking for something less clunky to cart along on camp outings. Hopefully, there's pretty cutlery to match.
The wait is finally over for Motorola RAZR fans who have been eagerly waiting to get hold of the limited-edition gold V3i. According to Motorola, there are plans to release a gold version of the RAZR in the second quarter of 2006. At press time, we were unable to confirm if the gold RAZR would be a V3 or V3i model. If it is a gold V3 clamshell, this will be the fifth color available for the handset, following earlier releases of silver, black, pink and blue versions.
Intel expects its forthcoming Conroe and Merom chips to deliver a performance advantage of at least 20 percent over chips from Advanced Micro Devices that are slated to be released at the same time.
Next month's Intel Developer Forum will include a thorough airing of the company's new design philosophies, said Mooly Eden, vice president and general manager of Intel's Mobile Platforms Group. The company plans to brief hardware developers, partners, and analysts on the nitty-gritty details of its new microarchitecture, which is set to replace Intel's blueprints for desktop, mobile and server processors.
"We believe we'll be able to open a major gap", with the new processors, Eden said. Eden led the design team that created the original Pentium M processor, which is credited as the inspiration for Intel's embrace of low-power design philosophies and the model for Merom and Conroe. Merom and Conroe are expected to launch for notebooks and desktops, respectively, in the second half of this year.
