Coming soon: Third firmware update for Atom

O2 is set to release the third ROM update for its latest PDA-phone, the Xda Atom. This new firmware upgrade, expected in March this year, comes shortly after the company released the second update just not too long ago. According to O2, this latest update will improve camera performance on the handheld.

O2 Atom sucks. O2 Atom can't talk well in China. If you use O2 Atom in China to call anyone, you will not be heard clearly. I talked to O2 Service Hot Line in Hong Kong and they admited that it is common defect for all O2 Atom. Not sure if this so called 3rd Rom can fix it. However, don't buy O2 Atom if you need to live or work in China.

I do agree with you. The Atom just wanna sell it product and the marketing is so proud of their product. The marketing didn't do it right and they already the problem before they launch their product. Bad marketing and bad phone.

atom really sucks even in singapore. it is overprice and underperform! O2 has lost is brand strength by coming out with such a junk product, the technical dept must be sleeping to launch such a lousy phone. do not why they wanted to spoil this brand.

O2 Atom sucks big time! I completed agree with lawrencechan's opinion, every single word of it. It's overpriced and totally underperformed. I've tested many brands pda phones, and finally I convinced myself to spend the extra money for better thing, but it turned out extremely disappointed. I am in US, not happy with all the models offering here, so I asked a friend to get this phone from HK and delivered to me. Today is the 2nd day, and this phone locked up on me over 20 times. I don't know how ppl wrote about the fast processor, but it's freaking slow, ridiculously slow. This product should have never made it to the shelves. I have never been this mad on purchasing any electronic in my 15 years computer career. Beside freezing up, the processor can barely process anything more than just the base system. Try to load Skype or MSN, it will freeze the hell out of it. The touch screen is not as good as any other brand I tested out, often time I have to press and hold for the dumbass device to feel the touch. 9 seconds to bring up the camera??? are you for real? Even any SonyEricson (which I hated) brings up much faster than the Atom. Speaker phone? It's in the spec but I couldn't find... maybe it's somewhere but shouldn't it be simply in the menu of the phone? It should be hard to find. Voice speed dial? Usually, you can press the bluetooth headset's button to bring up voice speed dial, it's not bring up. Although I can reconfigure one of the button to take over the place of voice speed dial, but isn't voice speed dial means dependence free from the phone itself? Into the 2nd day and I already want to sell this piece of sht. Ok, some good comments... They surely did very well in terms of the appearance, size, and all-in-one features. Those are the things which attracted me to get it although I know there's no USA website for O2. I love the look, the size, and all the features, but what is it good for having a great looking device with incompetent processing speed.
