Disney mini USB 2.0 Flash Disk

Juniper Foo  |  Jan 13, 2006

Hello Kitty, watch out. Disney's apparently cottoned onto a whole new world. Of tech and gadgets, that is. It's muscling in on the lipless one's turf by sending in the Disney brigade. Adding to its current arsenal of Mickey-themed notebooks, USB sewing machines and phones are now mini USB flash disks which come with hidden USB connectors and matching cables and lanyards. For cute overload, there's a Chicken Little limited edition.

Back in black!

Philip Wong  |  Jan 12, 2006

The Sharp LC32AX3M and LC37AX3M are the latest additions to its famed Aquos family LCD TVs. The duo, together with the 26- to 37-inch G series, form the backbone of its WXGA models targeted at its midsized HDTV customers.

While the new AX3 series does not come with the usual bells and whistles like memory card slots and USB port, Sharp compensates for these shortfalls with an energy-efficient digital audio amplifier and an all-digital HDMI terminal for fulfilling its promise of a "first class performance".

The Sharp 32- and 37-inch AX3 are now available at S$2,999 and S$4,299, respectively.

Diamonds are forever

Edvarcl Heng  |  Jan 12, 2006

Over 580 diamonds worth 10.32 carats in total and set on 120g of 14K white gold. Wow. That's like serious bling bling and a big hole in the pocket for the boyfriend. Opulence never got so grand for the wee player from Apple. We are predicting a larger version for the iPod video which will come with rubies, emeralds and sapphires (read: RGB). We would like it to be named Pricey Pixels. Though we wouldn’t care less if they gave it a crap name like Colorful iPod Casing, as long as someone gifts it to us. More info here

SkyScout

Juniper Foo  |  Jan 12, 2006

This is one astronomical device for star worshippers, if not for the fact that the heavens over some parts of Asia are perennially clouded. However, the Celestron SkyScout may surprise us yet. With its GPS sensor, this handheld skygazer has one distinct advantage over other telescopes. Point it at any part of the night sky, and this gizmo will determine what you're looking at, even down to the name of the star, planet or other astronomical data that you can read off a digital readout or via audio. Quite literally, the sky's the limit as you can download fresh celestial tutorials and data onto SD cards. One small step for stargazing, one giant leap for the stars.

Price: US$399
Availability: US and Canada for preorders, see Web site

iPod 501

Edvarcl Heng  |  Jan 11, 2006

iPod mania has reached a new height. Levi's has joined the fashion fray with the announcement of the RedWire DLX that will give tech geeks a whole new reason to trade in their khakis for denims. Goodies include an "invisible" docking cradle, a wire retractor for those knotty earphone wires and, listen to this, a joystick remote located on the watch pocket. Man, this pair of Levi's is literally splitting at the seams with nifty stuff.

Good thing it's coming out only in the latter half of the year, so if we hit the treadmill everyday, we should be able to squeeze into one by then. Hopefully.
