It was just a matter of time before manfacturers offered speaker docks for Walkman phones, just like the ones available for iPods. What we didn’t expect, though, was to find one that looked so good. We're betting most people will want to lay their hands on one.
Spotted at
Mobile.brando.com.hk, the globe-shaped dock can be used with the
W800i,
K750i,
W550i, and possibly the recently released
W900i. It serves primarily as a stereo speaker system for music playback from the phone. As with most speaker docks, it can also be used for charging and syncing the phone to the PC. A 3.5mm line-in connector is provided to allow users to hook up other music players to the speaker.
For now, it looks like the dock will be available only online and comes in just one color—-the signature Walkman white-orange. Onboard controls include a power button and volume controls. The device is powered by AC power and comes bundled with USB and 3.5mm jack audio cables. Users should note that the speaker dock is not an official Sony Ericsson accessory.
