Brugo Mug

Juniper Foo  |  Sep 09, 2005

If you're coffee lover, chances are you'd have burnt your lips at least once gulping down hot Java. And if there's a spill-proof, temperature-regulating mug out there with your name on it, the Brugo Mug seems to be the one. Based on a patented Temperature Control Chamber that keeps the brew in that "Perfect Temperature Zone", the coffee in the chamber is cooled and only this liquid exits the sip opening, while a tight seal retains the rest at its hottest. We have to add that the Brugo mug looks mighty delicious, too, in 12 cool hues with swanky names like Seaglass, Truffle and Mediterranean. The lifetime warranty most certainly works in its flavor, oops, favor.

Snap MP3 Bracelet

Juniper Foo  |  Sep 08, 2005

About the closest you'd get to the Snap would be Samsung's YP-D1 and YP-T8 music players, both of which incorporate motion-sensitive gaming capability. That's because the former, by Design Continuum, is still only a concept. However, it did win the Bronze at the Industrial Design Excellence Awards for its idea of a wrist-worn MP3 player that can be controlled by simple hand gestures and audio feedback. The player and wireless earbuds communicate using your skin as a transmission medium. Of course, songs are still loaded via standard Wi-Fi.

BalloonLamp

Juniper Foo  |  Sep 07, 2005

Here's a lamp that belongs to the weird and wondrous set of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The BalloonLamp is exactly what it claims to be: A balloon lamp. Which is a wonder since the balloon never melts, thanks to an LED light source that generates barely any heat. Here's another surprise. It's designed by Japanese musician Kouichi Okamoto, who based his idea on the Japanese Chochin, a portable lamp illuminated by candlelight during the EDO period. And just like a balloon, the BalloonLamp can be conveniently deflated after use for storage. Simply cool.

Flygun

Juniper Foo  |  Sep 06, 2005

Pesky flies and mozzies beware. There's a new kid in town that puts the regular flyswatter out of business. We don't know about its claims as the fast way to get rid of flies. But the Flygun does look like a fun way to play gunslinger to your winged pest and it's eco-friendly, too. This bug shooter is good to release a spring-powered swatter at a distance of 30-60cm. A meter-long string attached to the swatter makes for easy retrieval. Admit it, you really want one.
