Dog washing machine

The last time we looked, washing machines were for dirty laundry. Not anymore, it seems. Now pooches are being tossed into a machine that resembles an industrial washing machine and works like one, too. It sprays the poor mutt with water and natural cleaning solution through 37 nozzles for a good 4 minutes. This is followed by a 20-minute drying cycle. Probably a boon for dog owners who can now step back from the mess and muck, but not for the reluctant pet who's probably wishing the roles were reversed.

I would never put my dogs into one of those. Soap can get into their eyes and ears. Not to mention the noise and the high pressure water shooting the dog with water from every direction. Not a very pleasant experience for the dog.

Just remember this machine may very well ruin your dog for future grooming by scaring the heck out of it. Besides this thing can't clean the dog like an old fashion pair of hands, finding ticks, fleas, and foxtails and thorns, hot spots and lumps. There is no comparing a good groom to this water hose. Might as well take pup to the do it yourself car wash and squirt him down with a pressure washer. MY GOD THINK PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY YOU SO CALLED GROOMERS!

I have washed all kinds of dogs (with and without their owners present) and it is a very traumatic experience for them (1) to be in a strange place - no matter how many times they have been - and (2) to be separated from their owners for almost 1/2 day or more. Some of the animals I have bathed were blind or deaf and I would make sure to use my voice or my touch depending on their disability to try to calm them down. I can only imagine what these "disabled" pets would go through should their owners subject them to this machine. And cats, I have seen what is done to them at the groomers much less watch them in a machine! People put yourselves in THEIR place! Imagine being put into one of those huge washing machines at the laudromat and closed in with water spraying all over you and worst of all - you don't understand what is going on except that you are REALLY SCARED. I know some people will say "they are just animals" and right they are just animals but they have feelings and fears too, just like us. If you can't take a few minutes out of your busy life to give some attention to your pet by giving it a bath or having it bathed by a person - not a machine - then you should not have a pet. Just buy a cheap car and bring it to the automatic car wash - same principal.

This is abusive and inhumane. The dog in the video was probably the calmest one they could find and was still clawing to get out. I can't imagine how traumatic it would be for the average dog, let alone one who isn't a fan of being washed in the first place.
