MotoSk8 motorized rollerblades

Juniper Foo  |  Sep 30, 2004

Talk about reinventing the wheel! These in-line skates ship with their own little motor attached to the back, the brainchild of Californian thrillseeker Tim Glendale. We're not sure if it's even legal to whisk along East Coast Park on these, since anything with a petrol engine capable of over 25kmh speeds needs to be registered with the Land Transport Authority. Meanwhile, the instructions advise: "To brake, release handheld throttle." Best of luck.

Price: US$699.99
Availability: Oakdale, California
Device: Motorized in-line skates
Basic specs: Weighs 5.5kg, max. carry capacity 135kg, 22.5cc 2-stroke engine, acceleration via handheld throttle of 0-25mph (0-40kmh), uses unleaded fuel, 1-1.5-hour duration
