An illustration of VP's IM interface.
Who said instant messaging was all boring chats and conferencing? Definitely not the folks from Radix and their Velvet Puffin mobile IM. This offers features such as music/photo-sharing, on-the-fly blogging, and multiplayer gaming. What's more, it is compatible with MSN, Yahoo and AOL IM accounts, and runs on all Java-compatible mobile devices on 3G, GPRS and Wi-Fi networks.

While no details on potential telco partnerships were available, the service is slated for launch in mid-July and comes absolutely free less the data traffic incurred by subscribers.
