Have you ever planned for weeks to set up
the perfect proposal... and
then was foiled just because she wanted to stay home to catch that
final
episode of her favorite Korean drama? Well then, your future marital
future may be saved if you just had your hands on a Motorola Mobile
Video
Entertainment-enabled handheld.
Based
on DVB-H (digital video broadcast for handhelds) technology, a PDA or
even mobile phone will be able to receive digital
broadcasts in the same manner as your home television. Unlike the
current video-over-cellular experience provided by GPRS and 3G
connection, broadcast mobile TV uses a separate radio unit which tunes
into a range of channels without hogging the cellular line. Watching
and recording live program on-the-go will change your TV viewing
habits forever.
Alas, those who are dying to taste the
wonders of DVB-H
will have to find another way to scratch that itch. This technology
requires a collaboration between the mobile vendor produce DVB-H phones
and
broadcast companies providing the content. Though talk is underway to
provide
this service in Asia Pacific, it may be take some time before
this technology even hits mainstream.
