When is the best time to go to Comex without having to push your way around an angry mob?

fifinellaf says...
try camping and forming a queue a day before the event. that ensures you getting the best goodies, without getting drown in a crowd.

Erm, I don't think you need to camp, but avoid the weekend and visit during office hours if possible.

see? that is cnet folks' way of getting more space for themselves during 1st day at comex. *grin* maybe i should have camped there.

can anybody tell me the deals available for acer notebooks? help!

sgpup says...
pie, why are you so nasty? just a small error that we eagle-eyed users picked up mah.

anyway, acer notebooks are already so cheap. doubt they can lower the prices much. perhaps they will throw in some freebies. you know, singaporeans can be such cheapskates at times.

i think lots of people are already looking at the "OH SO CHEAP" acer 24" widescreen monitor! just to let you guys know, its an old model which uses TN panel, not SPVA like the dell model. also heard from my friend that the acer model do not have dvi inputs....so tough luck in viewing digital content from starhub or playing games with xbox360/ps3.
just my 2 cents.

Usually I don't look out for ink cartridges at these fairs. But just this once, asked someone to get them and have discovered the Canon ones are really good value for money. Dunno about the rest of the brands. A bit of heads up here if you are also looking to top up on printer supplies.

hey, the easynote laptop from packard bell that is selling for SGD$999 - its dual core (not core duo) according to posts elsewhere... can verify?

dariusctc says...
Hi Azyint,

For all intents and purposes, Pentium dual-core and Core Duo are similar in functionality hence I did not differentiate them in this coverage. The former is also not on Intel's roadmap, but a lower-end dual-core chip designed for some vendors to lower the cost of ownership.

I went on the first day. Practically all the notebook deals are on the budget and low-end ones. Performance notebooks cut no deal except for a few extra freebies.

Today I went to Comex to buy the 24" Acer LCD. I have read reports about Acer's poor service on Amazon, but I was amazed at how bad it is in Singapore as well. Firstly they placed the monitor up on a shelf so the image was poor because of the viewing angle. Moving a window to different locations looked different because of this. Then they it turns out they did not set it at the maximum 1920*1200 resolution which also degraded the visual quality. Finally they could only show video clips of "lower than VCD quality". To be fair the sales people there were not really from Acer even though they were wearing Acer T-shirts. The sales supervisor I complained to was from Accessories Newstead in Funan. The quality of the image was so poor I decided not to buy even though it is very cheap.
