Softbank ads getting stranger and stranger

Many of you might have already seen the unusual Softbank ad portraying Brad Pitt as a sumo wrestler's personal assistant. If that's not weird enough for you, the latest batch of Softbank ads featuring the now well-known Softbank dog might just be even more weird.

I'm not familiar with the origins of this narrative but somehow this Japanese family has come to address this big white Hachiko-ish canine as "oto-san" or "father". Was he transformed by some magic spell? Or is Japan just so ridonkulous that a family headed by a dog requires no explanation?

In any case, have a look at these commercials where oto-san performs an amazing act of heroism and ends up getting Wile-E-Coyoted as a result.
