Google fights controversy with cute in Japan
Sep 16, 2009 15:46Some of you may remember a video I posted a few months ago, created by Google Japan to promote its Chrome browser. It's really a testament to how much faith Google Japan has in its stuff that it has all the time to screw around making fancy YouTube videos.
Here's another awesome little animation created by the Google Japan crew to explain how its Street View system works.
If you'll remember, there was a bit of controversy implementing Street View in Japan due to privacy concerns. It's likely that this video was created in part to ease some of those concerns. They've run into some problems with Google Maps as well, now that I think about it.
You've got to admit that the camera is pretty cute. And if Japan is a sucker for anything, it's cuteness. Oh, and tentacles, too, I guess. Check out the video:

Hi Rick.
Yes KAWAII is specific to Japan.

Very nice. It just needed girls in strap-on bunny-ears to be perfectly kawaii. Or maybe that's just something I'm into... *ahem*...

@sirsteven Everybody likes bunny ears. I'm wearing a pair right now, actually.
