Beware of the camera-phone
Oct 23, 2009 15:46Whether you're out comparing the latest gadget prices at the mall or taking embarrassing photos of friends to post on Facebook, a camera-phone is a handy thing to have in the digital toolbox.
But it seems that recently, camera-phones have been used in situations of a rather dubious nature.
The other day, I was at the Shi Pai MRT station here in Taipei and came across the following public service poster.

When getting on the escalator please be aware of people behind you if they are trying to take a picture under your skirt with their cell phone.
When getting on the escalator please be aware of people behind you if they have a camera in their brown bags.
Taiwan is a country with an extremely high population density, especially in Taipei. It's not surprising that
But I'm not sure if this is a Taiwan-only phenomenon. I'd be curious to know if the authorities have posted warnings about public transportation perverts in other parts of the world as well.

It's far worse in Japan. They don't record they just grab it.

@Finn, I was going to put a Japanese reference in there cause they also have a high population density, but I don't know enough about the country really.

Here Happened This Again & Again . Taking Pictures Or video In Unusual Situations Is 1 Of Our Problems In Iran , Specially It Used For Video Recording Of Raping Scences And Use This Video To Force The Victims Never Talkin About That To Anyone .
But Another Problem Is Distributation Of This Video Or Pics Via Blutooth Or Anyways They Can Do It .
It Seems We Cant Change This Conditions Easily .

I've heard the 'perv' situation is quite a lot worse in Japan - hence all cellphones sold there must (by law) make a pseudo mechanical 'whirr... click' sound when a picture is taken.
Being able to take good video on phones (& even on the latest iPod Nano) now makes this more complicated, I guess!

@Sirstiven Yea I Heared Too . But Who Know , Maybe They Can Shut Down This Beep Or Shutter Sound !

However I Think This Law Is Just For Cameraphone . If Anyone Want Do That ,Can Use A Compact Digicam . ( You Can Off Their Shutter Sound Easily )

I use the camera on my Q9h quite a bit these days and I also wish there was a way to turn off the shutter noise. Not because I'm doing anything naughty, it's more because once in a while you want to take a picture w/o drawing attention to yourself. Like when friends are doing/saying/singing something funny but then get all shy once the camera comes out.
