Taiwanese girl on a mission to kiss 100 men in Paris

A Taiwanese girl has embarked on a journey to the City of Lights in search of culture, enlightenment, and a few friendly smooches from the local lads.

The Taipei blogger, angelduck777, has a full account of the adventure on her wretch.cc blog. (To go straight to the kissing album you can click here.)

I was discussing this story with a few friends yesterday and we didn't think much of it, but now that it has reached the international media it seems outside curiosity has bloomed.

Some folks have voiced concerns about her getting germs or whatever, but it all looks fairly innocent to me. When you see how she is posing in the photos, it really looks like more of a PR photo op than anything else.

Not really sure what she gets from it all, but some people collect miniature spoons, shot glasses, or tourist t-shirts when they travel. A photo pretending that you're kissing a Frenchman is, indeed, odd, but still harmless in my opinion.

Angelduck777's project reminds me of the whimsical French movie Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain. Amélie wants to encourage her dad to follow his dream to travel the world, so she steals his garden gnome and gives it to her air hostess friend. The stewardess snaps photos of the little dwarf statue in exotic locations around the globe, which inspires Amélie's father to break out of his lackluster daily routine.

On that note, I give angelduck777 points for gumption and the execution of a pretty original idea.  Next step? Ten countries and 1,000 kisses... Bridging the international divide, one kiss at a time.

Who knows, maybe one day, she'll stop by a town near you.

Interesting. It's a bit like Matt Harding, the guy who became famous on YouTube for dancing all around the world--an idea Visa picked up for its Visa Go. Wonder if any ad company would pick this kissing idea up amidst the swine flu scare.

@juniper: The "Where's Matt?" dancing campaign crossed my mind as well. :)
I mentioned to some friends that Chapstick should sponsor this girl. Then one friend suggested that cold sore medication might be a better tie-in.

Ooo. but don't the pictures look a little staged? was reading her blog and it seems well-positioned if you know what I mean. @spangaroo: This craze reminds me more of the free hugs campaign, although a little more personal. Might even involve a few ads like what Juniper mentioned(viral and to be revealed soon, think of the youtube's 'lonely' girl, or something like that). Pretty effective in hyping up someone's profile if you asked me.

Woo , Wonderful Project . If She Contuniues This To Thousands Kiss Around The world , Can Put Her Name In Guines Records . (Maybe As Most Kisser At A Trip) But Agree with Marielwong , Pictures Are (Very ) Staged . For Next Time She Must Take A Profesional Photografer . Good Luck For Her .

Oh geeze. In the age of H1N1 and a plethora of other things, I'm not sure if she or the people she kisses should be worry more. I guess its the thought that counts.
(Don't mind me, I'm just jealous that there is no one doing that here in my area.)
