Knock, knock--brand new Web site for the Indian Army
Nov 10, 2009 18:33Looks like the Indian Army has finally taken a leaf out of other government departments' books in India. The IT/Telecom Ministry has asked all government departments to maintain an online presence and also to update the Web sites at regular intervals. This has been well-adapted by many departments such as health, finance, etc. Now, it seems the Army, too, has woken up from its slumber and come up with a brand new Web site.
The new site of the Indian Army is at www.indianarmy.nic.in. As you can see from the URL, it is placed and maintained at an NIC server like many other Indian government Web sites and portals. It features a revamped UI or user interface from the previous sluggish one, but even the new one lacks any sense of Web or usability.
Maybe the guys at NIC need more training on Web development and awareness of the latest Web site design trends.
The new site provides users with the latest information about the Indian Army activities along with details regarding events, tenders and various other announcements. The Web site also boasts a secured login, decentralized data updates, and space for all the arms/services of the Indian Army--now that's something very interesting to watch out for.
