10,000 students being diagnosed for swine flu in India
Jul 31, 2009 18:40
It is really ironic how much havoc is being caused by the swine flu in India. The latest is that nearly 10,000 school students (aged four to 15) across 36 different schools are being diagnosed for the H1N1. The good news is that only two students have till now been declared as suspects and isolated and placed under observation by Satara district health officials.
,Panchgani which is in the Satara district, is a picturesque hill station that was very peaceful until the H1N1 flu hit them. Now, it is being reported that all schools either government or private are being visited by health officials and students are being diagnosed. It seems a lone student was diagnosed with symptoms of the H1N1 flu--he has been given medication and advised to stay at home.
The health officials are perplexed as to how the deadly virus could have landed on the hill station. Meanwhile, all private hospitals and doctors, also the outpatient departments and primary healthcare centers, have been put on high alert. They have been asked to inform the district health department in case they receive any suspected cases of the H1N1 flu from their areas.
Preliminary investigations revolve around one of the students who had gone to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and had returned almost 1.5 months after the team of students from the school came back. A few students and staff members of the affected boarding school had also visited NASA in April this year.
Hopefully, there weren't be more children affected by this deadly virus anymore.
