Some places to look for computer gadgets in Bengaluru
Jun 2, 2009 20:35Bengaluru, as Bangalore is officially called, is the annointed IT capital of India. Here are some places you can find very cool deals for the computer gadgets you have always eyed!
- SP Road: This is the most undisputed locality to find the best computer gadgets in town. There are just computer shops in every nook
and cranny of SP Road. The area is surrounded by the KR Market on one side and the Town Hall on the other side. Since there are so many shops
there, you can always bargain for the best buys there.
Be it blank DVDs or CDs, or some of the coolest stuff from CoolMaster, you can get it all
here in one place. I recently purchased components for my computer and got it assembled and up and running in 30 minutes flat. I bet even HP and Dell can't achieve that kind of speed and service!
The catch is you will need to carry along cash as most shops don't accept credit cards. In addition, there are special prices offered if you don't insist on a bill! Take note that some shops close on Sundays (though the last Sunday I went there, I found at least 80 percent of the shops open :) I call it the recession effect). - MG Road: The Computer Warehouse loacted at Barton Center, MG Road has been there for quite some time and tries to match the prices of the SP Road vendors. Though the variety of choices seems a bit too limited, service is quite good and the store guys are very helpful, too.
- Jayanagar 4th Block: On the road where Book Paradise is located, adjacent to Jain Temple, is a street that has at least five to six computer stores offering services from refilling ink cartridges to assembling computers. The prices of individual components are a tad higher, but if you get more stuff you can easily angle for a bargain.
- Croma: They call it the e-store and it does boast many components, but I couldn't find RAMs the last time I was there. Still, the selection of laptops and desktops seems to be good.
- Staples: It mostly stocks laptops and other accessories such as Webcams and printers, but also carries the latest Mac hardware!
If you know of other computer and hardware nooks and crannies, do share it below!
