Knock, knock--brand new Web site for the Indian Army

Looks like the Indian Army has finally taken a leaf out of other government departments' books in India. The IT/Telecom Ministry has asked all government departments to maintain an online presence and also to update the Web sites at regular intervals. This has been well-adapted by many departments such as health, finance, etc. Now, it seems the Army, too, has woken up from its slumber and come up with a brand new Web site.

Nokia alleges that Apple iPhone violates 10 different patents

Looks like the two biggest mobile giants are going to battle it out in the open. Now, that's very interesting since Nokia has now filed a patent lawsuit against Apple. The number of claims that the Finn has pitted against the Cupertino company for violations is more than 10 different patents that the former owns! Android war is brewing up here in India, too--Samsung i7500 Galaxy reviewed

Little did any of the phone enthusiasts expect that the Android phones would battle it out in India. But it looks like everyone was really caught off guard because we currently have all the three Android-based phones available (officially) in India.

HTC has brought the Hero via Airtel and within a couple of days we now have the Samsung i7500 Galaxy available on the Tata DoCoMo networks. So, it sure seems to be a war brewing and the networks are trying to cash in on the "Touch Revolution" that most folks are getting attracted to. Still no sign of the Apple iPhone 3GS around the corner, and even if it were to be launched here, the pricing on Indian shores will be sky-high.

Looks like VoIP services may be banned yet again in India

VoIP was legalized for use in India only a few years ago (August 2008 to be precise--TRAI recommended the lifting of restrictions on Internet telephony in the India), and now it is again in the news as likely to be banned. This time, it is the India's premier Intelligence Bureau (IB) that has asked the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, which is responsible for all things related to communications in India, to simply block all VoIP and Internet telephony services in the country. This is until the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) finds methods to trace and snoop on VoIP calls.
