Psst... you left some things in your shopping bag

A couple of weeks ago, I had a sudden urge to shop online. Hence, I clicked on to my favorite online mall, www.victoriassecret.com. Now, boys, settle down. I was only just shopping for clothes.

I buy a lot of dresses from VS as I simply love the range of cotton and lycra sundresses. However, after adding in several outfits to my shopping cart, I stopped at adding my credit card details and checking out after seeing the current international shipping rates. I quickly exited from the site and promptly forgot about the items in my shopping cart.

A few days ago, I received an email from VS--You left some things in your shopping bag.

It's a pleasant surprise to me as I've never received a reminder from any online mall. Obviously, you'll need to have logged in for the site's system to capture your data and track your purchases.

This is a very good service which I would advise businesses with online malls to have as it's a great way to retain customers and motivate buyership.

For me it's the opposite, if I got email like this one. I would think it's some annouying, aggresive marketing spam.

After looking at Father's Day gifts on www.redenvelope.com I received a similar message reminding me about Father's Day and the items I had looked at. I see this as great customer service and shows that they care about my shopping preferences. But to take it one step further they should include a discount, even if only 10%, to help convert the user from browser to buyer.
