I'm in love... with the Nokia Booklet 3G

Talk about timing.

Now that Filipinos have been getting more "wired" (with Netbooks and mobile Internet connection options getting cheaper), it seems quite timely for a well-known technology provider to introduce itself in this market... and, hopefully, get a lion's share of the hungry audience.

I'm referring to Nokia's latest technological wonder, this Web geek's wet dream, the Nokia Booklet 3G. With its very lightweight and compact body (1.7kg light, petite 10-inch screen and no more than 1-inch thick), the Nokia Booklet 3G boasts some very powerful and efficient features. From the new Microsoft Windows 7, multitude of connectivity options in 3G and Wi-Fi, and even HDMI output, this powerful little thing works like a Netbook, plays like an HD-DVD machine, and functions like a smart phone.

I'm telling you, I saw the video, and I wet my pants.

Here's the video release from Nokia, as shared by our friends over at Engadget.

Yes, it's purty.

According to inside sources whom I cannot name at the moment, the Nokia Booklet 3G is set for launch in the Philippines before end 2009 (just in time for Christmas. Rawr!)and is going to cost less than a MacBook Pro and just about the same as a Nokia N79.

Hmmm... so what to buy for Christmas? A cellphone? Or a Netbook? Or an Blu-ray player?

Well, why not get all?

Now, when's my Christmas bonus coming in?..

It does sound good, especially with wi-fi so you can hop onto the free wi-fi at a coffee shop to save your monthly 3G limits. China's only just getting into 3G this summer, so it might do well here too.

Personally, if it's Windows only, I'm not interested. With Google's upcoming OS, though, it sounds yummy!

Igs, this looks nifty. Look forward to the review and see whether all the hype about Windows 7 properly running on Atoms is true. If I wasn't saving up (and selling my kidneys) when the Canon 7D hits the shores of Singapore, this would be an interesting Xmas gift to self. What's your current machine ba, sir? Wondering whether you'd know if this or any other laptop can be connected to a smartphone and use that phone's connection the way Macbooks can hook up to iPhones and use the 3G connection. Clarification pala sir, is it 1.7 kasi the video says 1.3kg? Or is 1.3 the weight sans battery and charger and 1.7 is all-in?

Hi Ignatius! omg omg. i saw this clip too. lols. Actually I'm not too sure about mobile manufacturers venturing into netbook technology, but hey, they've already gotten their tablets in the right direction; with their N800 and N810, perhaps its a matter of progression.

But then like what steven said, perhaps a little tweaking might be in need to make this netbook sell. Kind of like a unique selling point eh? But its 10 hours of battery life sounds more like what a mobile might be able to churn out, and I'm definitely looking forward to this. Although... I worry about its price. Sounds like it could be wayyy pricey.
