On birthdays and milestones

Today is my birthday... Just don't ask how old I am. In a quick conversation with Joey, I told him I wasn't growing older... I was "leveling up". To that, Joey remarked that yes, you lose a point in constitution but gain a point in wisdom and intelligence. Yegads . I love being a gamer geek.

Part of what's going on in my life, our little gaming company, Level Up! Inc, is celebrating its seventh year today. That means LU's been gaming since 2002... which is approximately the same age as Philippine Ragnarok Online. So happy birthday, Level Up! May you bring more games into the country and spread more gaming amfufus in the coming years.

On that note, it's no surprise that the gaming industry in the country in general has been getting more and more aggressive in their advertising and promotional endeavors. I mean, the players then are your working force now... and players today have more access to gaming PCs because of cheaper Internet cafe access, more affordable home computers and ISPs. It's high noon for the Pinoy gaming generation.

Just to share, our advergaming campaigns are more than twice what they were a year ago, and 10 times more elaborate and comprehensive compared with 2006 and 2007. More and more clients and advertisers are looking at niche marketing--and what better place to get in touch with your active Pinoy youth than with gaming, where even young working professionals are considered part of the Pinoy youth market?

Anyway, rambling aside, I'm really happy we're celebrating another year of gaming at the same time that I'm celebrating another year of "God, that went by so fast". Looking forward to 2010, when everything in the marketing and advertising world will really fast-forward to a more complex and integrated digital world.

A friend reminded me through her Facebook status message that tomorrow is August. It's coming up to the end of the year! Glad you had growth this year.

Thanks Hilary! :D Yup! considering that advertising spending was down for some industries, everyone else seemed to be expanding. Lol. Guess it happens. :D
