Wi-Fi in Tagaytay
Feb 13, 2009 17:37I just left the cluttered Internet universe of Metro Manila to spend Valentine's Day in Tagaytay City, Philippines, and I have to say, I am quite impressed by the availability of Internet access here. Surprisingly, there are a lot of establishments now along the main highway of Tagaytay that offer Free Wi-Fi! And not the hidden type of "free Wi-Fi" where you have to pay (like Airborneaccess, etc.)... it's really free! I mean, I could practically park anywhere near a big hotel or restaurant or coffeeshop and Wi-Fi access is readily available.
As we were driving through the main highway from the resort we were staying at to our lunch date venue, I already spotted about a dozen or so hotels, halfway houses, apartelles and restaurants that have big signage advertising their Free Wi-Fi access. True enough, each one I stopped at had decent signals, most of them still free and unlocked!
Right now, I'm blogging at this cozy roadside Italian pizzeria called Katrina's, complete with mariachis and a very accommodating restaurateur. And yes, you have to try their pizzas. Damn I'm so fat.
Anyway, it's just too bad the room I booked at the resort didn't have Wi-Fi because, humorously enough, I booked it online. I should have just driven ove to Tagaytay and found me a nice, cozy hotel with a perfect view of Taal Lake. I guess I was just worried that, given the Valentine weekend, everything would be booked already (which is true anyway, because when I was making calls to the different hotels in Tagaytay last week, February 14 was fully booked everywhere). So I guess it's a good thing we dropped by a day early instead of joining in the V-Day rush.
So if you're headed down here anytime besides Valentine's (even for business), there are already a wide range of places you can stay in or meet at which offer Wi-Fi in their array of services.
In short, great news because everyone's going online in Tagaytay... even their sausages (www.tagaytaysausages.com). Lol!
