How Time Flies--Facebook now outranks Friendster in the Philippines

I wrote an article last August about how strong the Friendster phenomenon was in the Philippines and how, after years of being on top, it was still the most visited social networking site in the country. By the end of that blog however, I wrote, and I quote:

Now, how much longer can Friendster keep Facebook at bay? Well, only time will tell. With increasingly more users being lured in by the promise of yet more alternative ways to waste time on the Web (case in point, apps like Mafia Wars, Restaurant City, Farm Town, and YoVille), unless Friendster can produce its own brand of usable apps, Facebook will pretty soon overtake the leader. Even then, I don't think Friendster will lose its place in the Top 5. Like I said, only time will tell.

Keeping the Internet safe for Filipino kids

I just got a press release today that said after the First Internet Café National Summit was held last October 21, 2009, moves are already being made by the GDAP (Game Developers' Association of the Philippines) to support one of iCafe Pilipinas' initiatives. Ad congress wrapup--Lola Techie wins at Araw Awards

Congrats to the guys at BBDO Guerrero for its Lola Techie campaign which won Best of Use of Mixed Media at the recently concluded Araw Awards 2009 held at the 21st Advertising Congress of the Philippines in Subic.

The Lola Techie campaign for BayanDSL was a complete, through-the-lines integrated campaign which utilized everything from TV to print, outdoor ads and oOOH to the Internet, viral marketing and social media marketing.

Fighting for Pinoy independent music

In case you haven't heard yet, yes, we are budding rock stars. At least, we think so...

No, we do not have our own record deal yet, nor do we have our own Web site, t-shirts and faces plastered on MTV. But we do have groupies, albeit three or four, and we do have a MySpace and Facebook page. I guess that's a start. And yes, we have aspirations of hitting it big.
