Fallout 3 is ONLY SOMEWHAT available in Singapore! DAMN!!!!
Oct 29, 2008 10:06
Fallout 3 is out, somewhat. The Singapore release dates are WAAAAY outta whack by the way. Here's something that Singaporeans are talking about--November 13 for the PC version, and the rest suck (for me at least). According to PSM3 mag, the PC one looks incredible, while the Xbox and PS3 look about the same save that the Xbox renders distant objects better.
I'm not going to spend 100 hours playing the most awaited game I have in my mind, waited for so many years, for an inferior experience on a console. And I don't want to use a console controller for this, I want a MOUSE.
All right. Singapore will have the console version out on October 31, but phuc dat. Am I going to wait until November 13? Hell, NO. If they're not going to bring that in on time, I'm going to use my dollars to vote. Whatever I do and however I get it the local distributor's not getting my dollars, unless it's not his fault--can't imagine how it's not his fault though, because all three platforms are supposed to release simultaneously and the local distributor is releasing the sucky console versions first.
Wiki release dates: October 28 in North America, October 30 in the EU and Australia, and October 31 for the UK.
Am I going to courier it from the US to me? Too slow, it takes three days. So, physical delivery before October 31, phuc dat. No Fallout 3 Alarm Clock Survival Edition for me then... sob. It must then be an online download. Only two places for this, Direct2Drive.com and Steampowered.com.
Not that it's EASY! D2D is making the download available 10pm Singapore time!!! Doing D2D, I entered everything and my credit card number, and it detected that my IP address was not from its list of approved nations and promptly took FO3 out of my shopping cart and disapproved my purchase. And that's an IP address check, NOT credit card check, because my Paypal account couldn't buy it, too.
Steampowered next. As you can see from my pix, Steam discovered that I'm not worthy of an October 28 download, and gave me a October 31 date instead of the Australia October 30 or the US October 28 date. DAMN!
Anyway, this is my best bet. As the day comes I'll update this blog.
Meanwhile, I'm doing up DirectX 10 on my 9800GTX on my PC in anticipation of FO3 in two days 16 hours. I'm reading that with this so that at least I can get somewhat close to maximum quality on a 24-inch widescreen monitor. This is what I've been building and continually upgrading my PC for all these years and thousands of dollars. :) Yeah, right.

I just want to add that I'm so happy the PS3 version sucks bad in image quality. I'd hate to play it on a 6axis controller. If the PS3 version were any good I'd be in a dilemma. Anyway, as far as the PC version is concerned, I'd like to thank whoever's up there, my parents, my wife, and all my associates and friends, that I've got the powar!!!

by the way, any of you people want to download the ORIGINAL Fallout 3 by Black Isle studios, you can download it for free here: ve3d.ign.com...
To be honest this gives me a better feeling.

If Fallout 3's taken a decade to release, a little more waiting time won't kill. Besides, it's just a game.

Games = ikigai.
C'mon ... the reason octopus got more respect now is because they can play.
Worms can't play so they're not so sentient.

Just FYI, you can use the xbox 360 controller on your PC. That's right. Saw this at Bethesda forums. But since you're going for the original FO expy, then I guess this is moot. Damn! Why do I have to wait so looooong for FO3??? That's my issue here.
:)

I heard that it's Microsoft's fault for the Singapore delay. Why not just buy from Steam?

Michael, im dissapointed you made such a selfish, immature and irresponsible statement that you are happy the PS3 version sucked. It is a valueless statement so please be more responsible. This would hurt those who have only PS3 and not other consoles/PC (unlike me too whom have all 3).
Interestingly before you even try out the game, you have already dismissed the 6-axis. You should try Dead Space, the PS3/XBox joysticks is responsive so you may want to reserve your comment.
Sucks bad in image quality? go read the actual reviews by real critics like IGN and 1Up. Sucks bad is a wrong word to use.
I was looking for your age. how old are you?

I'm going for the xbox360 version. Need to buy a new PC to play PC-version. This can wait. Since development was targeted for xbox360 and PC, I am quite pleased that I have the xbox. Hehe. To think that I was torn between PS3 and xbox. Hehehe.
With regards to PS3 version, looks like some technical issue on PS3 and not so much with Bethesda. You can check more on this at Beth forum.

tanwi i'm a kid. you can see from my immature writing and bad language :) . I'm happy for my own sake the word on the vine is that the ps3 version sucked, and since this is to STOP ME from having a dilemma, truth does not matter if the world can bluff me, as all my memories of fallout were on the mouse and I would dearly want to play FO3 with a mouse not a 6axis controller. 6axis is for chocobos.
FOR SURE I am not happy that the PS3 sucks from the perspective that the PS3 is my favourite entertainment device as you can see from reading my other blogposts.
nukacoladrinka - good for you. The image quality delta is probably anal, but that's good enough for me to only consider the PC version, thank goodness, save money.

OK tried buying a download via all the download stores stated here: bethblog.com...
Gamestop/EBgames: at their download home, the game picture couldn't even appear.
BestBuy/Digital River: they took my money, did not give me a DOWNLOAD button, and didn't have the decency to give me any email whatsoever. I'm pursuing them now.
Oct 30, 2008 06:56
Success.
Best Buy / Digital River has responded. I can download now.
Hint: you have to give them a USA Credit Card billing address first, to go through their `filter out the non-USA billing address' algorithm. After your order goes through, change the credit card billing address to your true one.
Oh man!!!! SWEET!

Finally, got my xbox360 copy of FO3 around 1:30 PM at Challenger! I was the very first customer to get it. Had to wait two minutes as the staff were still placing the price tags. I'll try this out tonight. Woohoo!

Gratz!
