Google big plan for Malaysia?

Is Google attempting to make its presence in Malaysia more relevant?

On the quiet, Google Inc has enlisted Hanson Toh as its independent consultant and country adviser for Malaysia, effective October 1.

Toh was flown to Mountain View, California, for a two-week familiarization trip recently. He is expected to be back in Malaysia tomorrow.

Toh was formerly a senior strategic counsel at Telenor-owned mobile operator, DiGi, untillate September. Prior to that, he was a senior consultant at Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group.

In the past, Google's operations in Malaysia were overseen by California-based Alexander Kleinberg, who is attached to the Strategic Partner Development division.

About Jeff Ooi

Jeff Ooi is an Internet and e-Business consultant based in Kuala Lumpur who's spent the last four years blogging internationally on the tech scene, on anything and nothing. Which doesn't really explain why most of his own technology is about three years out of date. He doesn't even own a PDA after his Palm V crashed. He's on 3G, though... Lemak Lemang refers to coconut-flavored sticky rice stuffed in a bamboo container.
