Kee Utility finally rolls out Desk Phone Dock for iPhone series
There are thousands of accessory brands available in the mobile IT market with most of them producing accessories for Apple devices. Belkin, Speck, Griffin, SwitchEasy, iHome, Ozaki, Sumajin, Moshi, Case-Mate, Incase and more international brands have succeeded in this market because of the Apple iPhone lately. Unfortunately, I haven't seen a local accessory brand succeed in overseas markets except for SGP. However, SGP focuses on cases and protection films and does not deal with other categories like other major brands do.
Many of us see that just one uniquely designed product can expose a new brand and company to the real world. If one product succeeds in promoting the brand, products that follow thereafter will be able to get public attention much easier, putting the company in a better position to succeed.
Have you heard about the product called "Desk phone Dock"? This product was developed by Korean design company "Kee Utility" last April. I saw this conceptual design from one of the IT blogs and saw an actual working unit at the Hong Kong electronics show in 2010. This is an accessory for the Apple iPhone series which allow customers to use the iPhone as a wired desk phone. It can charge your iPhone, act as a stereo speaker and speaker phone, too.
Somehow, the Desk phone Dock release was delayed by by Kee Utility's internal issues and there have been various copycat products released. However, I think none have copied the identity and design of the Des kphone Dock.
Desk phone Dock was in the spotlight when the concept design was released. If it was released at the right time, I assume this small design company in Korea would have been successful worldwide, thanks to the Apple iPhone's success.
Finally, I found out that the Desk phone Dock is ready for launch and the company has been taking orders from international customers via its Web site. It says the product will ship in 3 to 4 weeks. At the same time, Kee Utility has introduced two shiny new iPhone 4 cases together with Desk phone Dock. The retail price of Desk phone Dock is US$149.95, which is a nice, competitive price.
If you are using your iPhone in your office all the time without having a desk phone, how about geting this dock for yourself? Its shiny design will set your desk apart from your colleagues. According to the manufacturer, the iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4 models are supported and I assume if Apple doesn't change much of the iPhone 5, you may be able to use it for a long time.
