Microsoft Philippines managing director stepping down
May 29, 2009 10:49How competitive is the industry nowadays? Very competitive. Given the economic situation worldwide, it's more and more becoming a numbers game out there.
I just got a news release from Microsoft Philippines indicating that Rafael "Pepeng" Rollan has decided to leave Microsoft Philippines.
Here's the full release:
Microsoft Corp. announced that Rafael "Pepeng" Rollan has decided to leave Microsoft Philippines and that the company has begun a search for his successor.
Rollan joined Microsoft in 2002 as sales manager for enterprise accounts and held the post of director, Enterprise and Partner Group, before being named managing director in 2007. Under his leadership, Microsoft Philippines successfully launched products such as Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008, and Visual Studio 2008.
The subsidiary also continued expansion of its corporate citizenship initiatives, including programs for overseas Filipino workers, former and potential victims of human trafficking, and projects dedicated to using technology to enhance local education. "I have enjoyed my time with Microsoft Philippines," said Rollan who will remain with the company until September, 2009. "I look forward to working with the team over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition."
"We wish to thank Pepeng for his contribution and service, and to wish him well in his future endeavors," said Ken Wye Saw, vice president sales and marketing, Microsoft Asia Pacific. "Our commitment to Microsoft Philippines remains strong and Pepeng's extended transition will allow us to continue to deliver exemplary service to our customers and partners."
As they say, in business, no one is indispensible. Just like us in the media, I always say that "we are only as good as our last story".
God bless us all!

While working out on the treadmill machine this evening I was thinking about Microsoft and its' manipulations of the markets and technology in general. It seems to me that DRM should be left to each company selling its' entertainment media via digital content. It is not for Microsoft to incorporate it into its' OS. In an honest world this could be legally defined as conspiracy and market manipulation but the Americans are so used to getting their way that no one seems to bother much anymore with trying to bring Corporate America to justice.
monsieur Rollan leaving Microsoft is perhaps a sign of his soul being redeemed or of a criminal going into the sunset unpunished and unhindered to enjoy the fruits of his crimes.
