Philippine Airport on alert Level 3 due to swine flu problem

The officials of the Philippine Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) have issued an alert Level 3 due to the declaration of the World Health Organization (WHO) that the swine influenza A/H1N1, more popularly known as "swine flu", is a public health emergency of international concern.

The authorities of the Department of Health were quick to educate the public about what the swine flu is all about. Officials have been advising people to wash their hands regularly and to avoid kissing or shaking hands (as a precaution) with people who are suffering from coughs and colds.

In case you're going to visit the Philippines soon, our airport has now installed a thermal scanner to determine if a passenger is suffering from high fever, one of the symptoms of the swine flu.

If in the event a passenger is found to have a high fever, he or she will be taken to a hospital for a thorough checkup. So far, no reported incident of the swine flu has been reported here in the Philippines.

By the way, the Department of Health said the swine flu cannot be transmitted by eating pork. Swine flu can be transmitted only via human interaction.

God bless us all!

I think after bird flu, foot and mouth disease. I would think the goverments of the world be tighter testing on avian-type virus.

Thermal scanners are not 100% fool-proof. Those passengers who caught the disease and have yet to develop high fever will not be detected by the scanners.

God help us all ...
