Canon launches new PIXMA printers

I attended a Canon Philippines press conference to witness the launching of three new PIXMA printers: The Canon PIXMA iP100, PIXMA MX7600 and PIXMA MX850.

The PIXMA iP100 Mobile Printer delivers remarkable quality and print anywhere portability. Its patented printhead technology and five-color ink system let you create spectacular photos with 9,600 x 2,400dpi color resolution.

A photo lab-quality 4 x 6-inch borderless print takes only about 50 seconds. It offers IrDA compatibility and an optional BU-30 Bluetooth interface, so you can print wirelessly from a PC, PDA or camera-phone.

The PIXMA MX7600 is the first All-In-One inkjet printer to use the revolutionary Pigment Reaction (PgR) ink technology. PgR works by coating the paper with clear ink as it travels toward the printhead. Canon Lucia pigment inks bond to the clear ink, improving saturation, brightness and ink fixation. The curling, ink bleeding, and "show-through" sometimes associated with color inkjet printing are all but eliminated by the chemical bonding of the inks, resulting in high-contrast, moisture and highlighter-resistant prints.

The PIXMA MX850 is an Office All-In-One with print, copy, scan and fax capability, which maintains the high-quality 1-picoliter 9,600dpi FINE print engine specification, while adding additional SOHO functionality. With auto duplex scan and copy, Ethernet connectivity and a high-speed ADF loadable up to 35 sheets, PIXMA MX850 offers small businesses enhanced efficiency and ease of use.

Several new features have been added to the PIXMA MX850: Quick Start enables users to start a copy approximately 5 seconds after power-up. Auto Image Fix improves the quality of photographs using face detection and scene analysis to optimize areas such as face tone and brightness, color fogging and over/underexposure. Photographs can be transferred directly to the printer from cameras and similar devices, either using the memory card slots (compatible with most popular formats) or via Bluetooth (with an optional adapter) or PictBridge.
