Apple iTunes finally lets you sync music between computers--yay or nay?
Sep 10, 2009 22:04Finally. Finally, Apple incorporates something we so longed for, being able to sync music across different computers, or what Apple dubs as home sharing. Home sharing allows users to browse the iTunes libraries on up to five computers in their house and import whatever they like, be it music, movies or TV shows across different computers.
Sound too good to be true? Yup. So what's the catch?
Well, in order to use the home sharing function, all computers have to be on the same network and be on the same iTunes account. Secondly, the key word here is "home" and that means no syncing between your laptop and your work PC. Wait, if they are both on the same network, is there a way to do so? ... Not quite sure. Someone ought to try it and let the rest know.
Been reading quite a few reviews on the iTunes 9 and this home sharing function been really buggy. Hope Apple can patch this up fast (we all know how good Apple is when it comes to updates).
Meanwhile, back at the farm, I'm still trying to get this 98.97MB update downloaded to my PC. It took my Mac under 10 minutes to do so, but it's been half an hour on my PC and I'm not even halfway there yet. Yawn
For those who got it to work, congrats. Hopefully, I can get this done before midnight and try it out. Got over 100GB of music which I want to copy over from my PC to my Mac.
Night and peace out.

I've had it for most of the day, and been using it as I usually do. So far I'm just noticing the visual tweaks, which a bit jarring - the app/music/podcast background is too light and no longer has a gradient, and the 'metal' parts are a bit too light when compared to other Mac apps, such as Safari. A bit too much gloss too.
However, I still like iTunes 9. Had no issues with it all day, and the new features are right, and well-implemented. Especially the app organisation for iPhone & iPod Touch owners during syncing.
