Bid for the limited-edition HTC Blings Magic and you'll help combat child prostitution

It's no secret that child prostitution, child trafficking and child pornography are rife in Asia. A few months ago, a friend told me about an orphanage in Chiang Mai. She said that every once in a while, a lorry would trundle through with a load of children in its back. The lorry driver would stop and ask if the orphanage would like to buy these children.

Unfortunately, the orphanage does not have an unlimited supply of money, so they would have to let these children go even though they are devastated to know that these children will be sold into the sex trade. That's the reality of the situation.

But what if you can own something beautiful and help stop these children from being exploited? HTC has offered two limited-edition Android phones, the HTC Blings Magic encrusted with Crystallized-Swarovski Elements, up for auction.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from these phones will go toward ECPAT International, an organization that has been working to end child prostitution, child pornography and child trafficking since 1990. You can bid for these lovely phones if you are in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand or Vietnam.

More about ECPAT - ECPAT has Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC). Click to find out more about ECPAT.

To bid for either the Blossoms of Hopes or Wish Upon a Star HTC Blings Magic phone, just go to http://www.bidyourmagic.com/. Bidding has begun with a starting price of US$888 and will end on Friday, July 31, 2009, 11.59pm +8:00 GMT.

May you win the auction!

As much as I'd love an Android phone, I'm not crazy about the blinged-out design from HTC. I go check out ECPAT and see how I can help.
