Rural Malaysia to install solar hybrid system

Previously, I wrote that Kota Marudu in Malaysia's rural borneo island will be the first in the country to be powered by windmills.

Now, Kampung Murud and Kampung Kalabakan, which have more than 4,000 residents, will be the first to be powered by a solar hybrid system. According to the news, the erection of electric poles and cables in the area have almost been completed. The news, however, did not report who the technology provider is and what technology will be used.

While using a solar system is a huge step toward clean tech, some systems may include the use of diesel to generate backup power on cloudy days, so it won't be 100 percent clean all the time.
