Asia's first green festival in Singapore

In what has been touted as Asia's First Green Festival, the IndoChine Green Festival 2009, in association with the APEC CEO Summit Singapore, is running from November 10 till November 30 in support of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Hopenhagen.

This festival is a countdown to the United Nation's green event in Copenhagen, Denmark, and is the world's first series of events for IUCN.

"This festival aims to help IUCN raise awareness of its mission to Copenhagen in December for the United Nationa Climate Change Conference, also known as "Hopenhagen", to promote and educate on global warming and the deterioration of our environment, in conjunction with IndoChine's 10th anniversary celebrations."-- Michael Ma, CEO of IndoChine Group

While having a festival may not exactly be a purist's idea of going green, I do think it's a commendable effort to bring awareness of conservation to high society folks who may not otherwise have much time to think about green issues with so many other priorities in their busy lives.

IndoChine itself, a popular restaurant and resorts chain in Asia and Europe, tries to do its part by being the first in Asia to use a heat exchange system from Australia to conserve energy.

Last night, there was a tropical Fiesta Gala Night as part of IndoChine's 10th Anniversary Party, and this geek managed to catch some of the action:

IndoChine Green Festival Gala NightKicking off the gala dinner was May Lee of CNN and CNBC fame. This long table became a catwalk later in the night, cool stuff.

Therese Neaime
Therese Neaime had a very lovely mix of Swedish and Middle Eastern sounds and has scored No. 1 hits on the Swedish charts. You can still catch her tonight at the concert.

Corinne Gibbons
Corinne Gibbons has had hits on the independent jazz charts and you can catch her tonight at the concert, too.
