You can now verify who you are following on Twitter

Twitter just launched its verified accounts program and one glance at the terms of service tells this geek a few things.
- It does not look like a paid program, yet.
- It's meant to target only the specific problem of identity theft on Twitter.
- While it verifies who owns the account, it does not verify who is twittering on that account (Obama could be using his teleprompter to tweet).
- It is not rolled out to businesses, yet.
Here's how the logo looks like:

While this should be a welcomed move, I, for one, am surprised that Twitter did not use this as one of its main revenue generators, like some of the gaming platform providers and forums that I know. Maybe they have some issues to iron out still.
