I'm on a new religion
Jul 4, 2008 05:11This is the first time I'm experiencing this religion after almost 15 years of unbelief. First, it was Palm for seven years, from the Palm Pilot to the IIIx, all the way to the Treos. Then it was Windows CE, O2 Xda II until my latest HTC Touch Cruise on Windows Mobile 6.
Some of you already had a hint of it when you received mails from me that went:
"Sent from my BlackBerry Wireless Handheld" at the footer of some of my emails.
Yes, I've joined the religion after peering at it from the outside for the longest time.
RIM has kindly offered me a BlackBerry 8320 Curve together with StarHub for review and I think I'm damned. I mean literally hooked.

And I really wonder why. I'm not even a corporate guy who's forced to carry one around by the company.
Being a Palm and Windows Mobile user for so many years, I consider myself between a power-user and a hacker. So, why am I content with a device that I have so little control over? One that I can't install many of my familiar applications and hack like I do with my Windows Mobile phones!
Maybe that's why they call it a religion. It takes a lifetime to understand its power and draw. And you'll probably hear me preaching about it for a long, long time.
