CNET Asia's new look--how 'bout a new blogger?

Thought it'd be proper to greet you before diving headfirst into this deep pool of tech blogging and floating it with cyber jargons galore.

Thanks for dropping by!

The truth is, I'm disciplining myself to avoid using those unfriendly tech jargons as much as possible. This is inspired by a recent experience where I was part of an exercise to get geeks to explain tech terms in simple English.

I was quite amused to discover that while the meaning of these terms were utterly obvious to us geeks, to explain them using plain old simple vanilla English took more iterations than it required me to get my first golf ball off the ground--which by the way helped me discover my hidden talent for digging and destroying good grass.

Continuing with the point of tech jargons, I was doing some research recently on Agile technologies when I came across this article Hyperproductivity in large projects through distributed SCRUM passed on by a friend.

What do you think? I'm sure that, unlike me, you understood every word of the article at first read and am totally excited about it, right?

Know what? You can heave a sigh of relief now because (I think) my blog won't be like that. I actually plan to work really hard to communicate in clear, simple English.

One of my favorite quotes:

"People spend too much time learning about complicated things. What we really need to learn is to make them simple again."

Take a quick surf through Web 2.0 and you can find so many blogs, articles, and information for almost everything and anything tech and geek. In fact, the information out there is so much, I'm way overloaded. All thanks to Web 2.0!

So, this is not going to be another "me, too" tech blog.

I'm going to strive for simplicity in this new "attention economy". (Oops! So much for no jargon!)

I hope this will be a haven for geeks as well as for IT-zeros like Kero and Bobbi who have to put up with my geeky nonsense daily.

Thanks again for popping by, I hope you'll find this tech blog enjoyable in its aim for simplicity, with the occasional jargons lah!

Did you watch the movie Contact starring Jodie Foster before? I remember there was a line where someone said something about the simplest explanation is usually the correct one.. or something along that line.. It's all about breaking down to the most common denominator..

Remember how back in school days, we learned that when we have to guess the answers to our exam questions, the most complicated one would be our best bet? For example:

Q: In which year did world war II end?
a) 1920
b) 1945, 9 days after the U.S. dropped a nuclear bomb at Hiroshima
c) 1981
d) 2020

Let's see if you can get this one right. heheh!

thanks for dropping by Damian and Precious. erm I did not watch the movie 'Contact' but yes I vote for simplicity! For Precious' multiple-choiced question... lemme see... I usually choose the odd one out and 2020 seems odd enuff!
