Asia's first green festival in Singapore

In what has been touted as Asia's First Green Festival, the IndoChine Green Festival 2009, in association with the APEC CEO Summit Singapore is running from 10th Nov till 30th Nov in support of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Hopenhagen.

This geek has been playing his role as digital nomad and visited more than 10 cities in the past 30 days, from Indianapolis to Osaka, and from Beijing to Moscow. I have lots of tales to tell you, but the scariest yet is the truth that your Wi-Fi is not safe, regardless of whatever security encryption and measures you have for it.



In Wuhan, I came across a Chinese news report that you can go to the Chinese technology retail shops and get this box which basically gives you a Wi-Fi range of 300m or more. The technology allows to you crack open any Wi-Fi network, no matter how protected they are, for a mere few hundred Chinese yuan.

The world's largest digital festival, which some dub as the "digital Woodstock", Dreamhack, is starting to roll into town. The show that holds three Guiness World Records for largest B.Y.O.C. LAN parties, reaches out to more than 200,000 Swedes over the period of a year. It even featured an airshow in the winter of 2008, and is holding a Southeast Asian qualifiers in Singapore.
