Do you know Andro-boy (Android Boy)? He just landed in Korea
What is the Andro-boy? It's a boy that was created by SK Telecom but originally birthed by Google, I guess. SK Telecom has just released its first Android phone in Korea together with Motorola and LG. Samsung will joining this race within a couple of weeks, too.

SK Telecom is hosting the Android platform and the smartphone is its next strategic mobile lineup against Korea Telecom which has been retailing Apple iPhone 3GS units since last December.
While KT is focusing on the Apple iPhone, SK Telecom is coming out with Android, but this domestic battle will get more intense as KT is also preparing to launch Android phones.

Funny thing is KT did a full marketing of the Apple iPhone by itself even though it's a partnership between both parties and this kind of marketing has never been done with local brands like Samsung, LG and Pantech (SKY).
This time, SK Telecom started to market the Android platform by itself rather than with Google involved. It even created a charater call "Andro-boy". It opened up the Twitter account and announced that he will visit and release his timetable so that people can find him easily.
Not too sure if this can really work out as what the operator planned, but I think the most important thing is that the right Android phone can appear to the customers rather than just promoting the Android platform. Even if the Android phone is available, without having an Android marketplace that contains various local apps, it's meaningless, isn't it?

Here is clip of SK Telecom's Andro-boy CF and images that I found from its Twitter account @androidt.
