Cowon is back in action! IFA products introduced!

Another leading MP3 product manufacturer, Cowon, just announced three new upcoming products which will be press released during IFA 2008 at Berlin. (Cowon is not attending IFA with its own booth, so if you'd like to see actual products you may need to contact its overseas sales people to get in touch while in exhibition.)

It's been six to seven months since its last product was introduced. Cowon has been facing a tough season without any new products launched, compared with other competitors like Samsung and iriver in the Korean domestic markets and Apple and Creative in the international markets.

Cowon has introduced three new products in each category: The S9 as an MPEG-4 player, the O2 as a PMP, and the L3 for car navigation. I assume L3 will be not available for the overseas markets because none of Cowon's navigation products have been released in overseas markets.

The S9 is an MPEG-4 type model which may continue the success of its D2, but I guess this isn't a player which is named D3. If so, Cowon won't revise the name to S9, so please be patient for the upcoming D3. It should be more powerful than any other products like the D2.

Cowon didn't release much information about all the players. Just images and brief specifications introduced via its Korean Web site. I've listed the main images of each player below with their specs for your review.

After Cowon's product release, Korean gadget sites have been buzzing with many users discussing their opinions and trying to gather more information on those players.

Cowon's usual move regarding its products is that overseas versions will be out in about a month later when the Korean version has been released in Korea. Also, it will modify those products to remove the DMB tuners. Maybe there can be a chance to integrate DVB-T for overseas markets since it did release the A3 with a DVB-T module earlier and an 1seg version for the Japanese market.

However, Cowon products are mostly quite expensive compared with other products, so let's see how it is going to promote and set the prices for those three upcoming models.
