Dancing Cebu inmates back with Jai Ho video on YouTube

In 2007, these inmates of a maximum security prison in the Philippine province of Cebu became instant Internet sensations with a viral video of them dancing to Michael Jackson's Thriller. Thriller, as of this writing, has generated over 23 million views on YouTube, and was such a hit that it received mainstream coverage in the Philippines and abroad, even landing on the pages of Time magazine as one of the Top 10 viral videos of the year.

Now, the latest footage of the inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center is online, as over a thousand prisoners dance in unison to the song Jai Ho from the movie Slumdog Millionaire.

Here's the Jai Ho video of the dancing Cebu inmates.

In case you're wondering why these prisoners are dancing, it's not a punishment but a means for them to exercise their mind and body. These dance routines are the brainchild of prison chief Byron F. Garcia who uploads the footage to YouTube.

Here's the Thriller video which I still can't get enough of even though I've seen it so many times.

And here they are dancing to the songs of the Black Eyed Peas.

This is quite amazing. Would have thought that inmates of a maximum security prison would consider coordinated activities such as group dancing as sisified.
