Philippine Blog Awards: Another sign blogging is being taken seriously?

You know that blogging has become a phenomenon when it spawns its own awards ceremony. One that will take place in the classy RCBC Plaza Auditorium located in the Philippine financial capital of Makati City.

Heck, I heard from the organizers that, in fact, it's going to be a coat-and-tie affair, complete with red carpet moments.

Bloggers, you've arrived!

What's even more gratifying is that the Philippine Blog Awards has also attracted a lot of sponsors, including Automattic of WordPress fame, global blog network b5media.com, Philippine telco Globe Telecom/Innove Communications, Philippine portal Yehey, and our own company INQUIRER.net.

For more on the Philippine Blog Awards, check out this video interview I conducted. I interviewed two of the three organizers; unfortunately Gail Dela Cruz-Villanueva was sick that day.

The guy on the left is Jayvee Fernandez of abuggedlife.com, who is also the technology channel editor of b5media.com, while the other organizer is Abe Olandres of yugatech.com--arguably the most popular Filipino blogger.
