Since the information provided on the iPhone is still quite sketchy at the moment, it's a little hard to predict if it will do well when it is launched late this year in Europe and next year in Asia. But based on what's been revealed so far, we predict that the iPhone will still appeal to mobile users, especially Mac and iPod fans, with its sleek touchscreen design and unique Mac OS X operating system. On the downside, some may be put off by the expensive sticker price, lack of 3G and memory card slots and the fact that you cannot download directly via iTunes on the device.
From the recent 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, it seems other vendors are already planning similar products with full touchscreen display, such as the LG Prada phone and Samsung Ultra Smart F700. Therefore, it should be interesting to see how the iPhone will compete against the other major handset makers in the market next year.
